ARTIFACTS FROM THE WORLD OF HERE BE CRYPTIDS
The extended universe fleshed out with real-world jewelry.
This page details three separate artifacts that are found within the world of Here Be Cryptids. Two of these pieces give further insight to the culture of the world and how different factions within the world operate. The third artifact is an item fashioned from the parts of a cryptid that had been hunted.
THE ODD CHAIN RING
A symbol of unity between man and cryptid.
The people of Odd, West Virginia make crudely fashioned chain-rings to symbolize their connection to their cryptid companions. From a young age, people of Odd are raised to respect cryptid-kind and live in harmony with them. As a result, most humans in this community "adopt" cryptid companions and live with them. Due to a lack of finer quality materials, and the fact that most of these rings are made by adolescents, these chain-rings are normally very unpolished. Most chain-rings include two rings total: a thumb ring to represent the human and a pointer finger ring to represent their cryptid. The set featured here is an example of a human that had a family of four unique cryptids that they've bonded with. In some families, the human would be represented by a bracelet instead of a ring, with the cryptid rings being connected to the bracelet through chains. The rings made for each cryptid are made in regards to each cryptid's characteristics. A larger cryptid may be represented by a larger or thicker ring, and vice versa.
FIRST EDITION HUNTERS UNITED BADGE
Handcrafted by the man who found Bigfoot.
Today, Hunters United is a world-renowned organization designed to help the cryptid-hunting industry flourish. Ages ago, when cryptid hunters were few and far between, one man had an idea. Llewelyn Ambrose, upon discovering undisputed proof that Bigfoot was real, set out to document as much of cryptid-kind as he could. Once he was finished with his mission, he took it upon himself to found an organization to provide more hunters with the knowledge and resources to discover all there is to know about cryptids. Hunters United was born. To commemorate the inauguration, Ambrose crafted copper badges for the first generation of hunters to wear out in the field, as a sign of identification and as a sign of pride.
LEVIATHAN TOOTH NECKLACE
The magic metal teeth from a great sea-beast.
The Leviathan is a rare cryptid, eluding even some of the most seasoned hunters. Even so, the few interactions we've had with them have allowed us to learn interesting points about their biology. First, their teeth are primarily composed of iron as opposed to calcium. As a result, their longer teeth can grow as large as three inches long and are as sharp as daggers. Another interesting point has been discovered regarding their smaller teeth. Similar to sharks, leviathans have multiple rows of smaller teeth. They can willingly dislodge these teeth and shoot them at prey or potential threats. These smaller, barbed teeth can be spit with enough force to turn them into bullets. Lastly, these teeth are normally shot with a kind of venom that is naturally formed within the Leviathan's body. Because of these unique properties, Leviathan Teeth are very valuable and are highly sought after by most hunters as ammunition for other hunts.
